About Project Hope
Engaging together as a community to build a positive, safe, nurturing environment so that our youth of today can be our leaders of tomorrow.
Project Hope is a group of churches and community organizations in Plainfield, NJ working together to address youth violence. It currently consists of
Grace Episcopal, Covenant United Methodist, Shiloh Baptist, Watchung Avenue Presbyterian, Plainfield Society of Friends, First Unitarian Society of Plainfield, the Youth Council Teen Center, Angels in Action, People's Organization for Progress, and the Plainfield Development Association among others.
The Project, which began in 2009, organized a public forum in which governmental, educational, gang specialists and youth met with parents and concerned citizens the to identify causes and possible solutions. This has been followed up with smaller meetings now underway to determine specific actions. Project Hope will organize and support efforts with other community groups to move the work forward.
